Overview
Our School
"lina' Biniye'O'hoo'aah" - Learning for Life
Mission
Ojo Encino Day School is a Kindergarten through Eighth grade school serving the educational needs of Native American/Navajo students. Our enrollment is more than 170 students. Our 25 staff members fully implement the Common Core Standards into our dynamic academic program. We are an accredited BIE school committed to the education of our Navajo youth and the preservation of our language, culture and values.
We teach the following list of five core values in all learning activities to encourage student self-identity, confidence and culture:
- Respect
- Honesty
- Wisdom
- Honor
- Courage
Our school strives to develop each student's individual capabilities academically, socially, and emotionally. The strength of our school is based on the support our staff gives the students through a variety of learning initiatives, including after-school support/tutoring, summer school, sports, and much more.
Home of the Braves
Ojo Encino Day School, the home of the Braves, is located in a rural community on the eastern boundary of the Navajo Nation. We serve several communities: Ojo Encino, Torreon, Star Lake, Counselor, Pueblo Pintado, and Cuba. The name "Ojo Encino" originates from a grove of thriving oak trees surrounding a natural spring triumphantly emerging out of the ground.
Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)
Ojo Encino Day School has implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP) initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students the advantage of integrated applications, and a robust learning strategy.
Ojo Encino Day School's team of dedicated educators are committed to the growth and development of your children - tomorrow's leaders.
